Didn’t go again for years but was delighted to see (and ride!) it still going when we took my infant son. Went more or less once a year, then suddenly it was gone. . . Being there for so long I kind of felt it would be there for ever, and was ( and still am) devastated by its loss. I would be so happy if it could run again, anywhere: if it could once again run in P.C. I reckon I could die a happy man. All my best wishes for the restoration. Two things I really looked forward to when visiting from Port Talbot in the 1950's - the prom train ride from the pier to the fair (and back), and riding on the children's train ride in the fair itself, there was a green train engine, a blue, a yellow, and a red one, and they rode around a short track. That ride has gone now I believe, as have the prom train, but those memories have always stayed with me.

Gee James, Port Talbot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4485294124607222741.post-87896731061927068212021-07-20T09:19:41.476+01:002021-07-20T09:19:41.476+01:00My Grandad George Champkin was one of the drivers....My Grandad George Champkin was one of the drivers. He worked at the fairground and would often help with the running and maintenance of the train. I rode that train a fair amount and have fond memories of it. It's a shame how it ended up.
